A message from IMUSA regarding COVID-19

03/12/2020

Like you, we are monitoring the COVID-19 coronavirus across the US and the world. As a community brought together by the importance of touch this is particularly impactful and our hearts go out to all those who have been affected.

Below you will find a list of suggestions and resources we have compiled from The American Academy of Pediatrics, The Center For Disease Control, the World Health Organization and the American Red Cross regarding hygiene and public safety updates as well as a note on the status of upcoming 4 Day CEIM Trainings scheduled across the US.

Infant Massage USA will continue to refer to these and other public health organizations for guidance on preventing the spread of COVID-19 and other updates.

Additionally, our staff has been a fully remote workforce since 2018 so the general administrative operations of the organization are not largely interrupted at this time.

Tips & Resources

For classes you have scheduled in your communities, we recommend keeping up to date with your local health departments, the CDC and WHO to determine the safest course of action for your classes.

Suggestions for CEIMs When Teaching

  • Ask participants to wash hands at the beginning of the class and allow additional breaks for hand washing when needed

  • Provide hand sanitizer

  • Encourage participants to stay home if they are not feeling well

  • Clean and sanitize common surfaces in the space

  • Refer to the CDC, WHO and your local health department's guidance for additional information

UPDATE: Regarding in person classes, refer to your local health departments/CDC for guidance on distancing and social gathering.

Note Regarding Upcoming CEIM Training & Certification

In the instance that any scheduled 4 Day CEIM trainings are postponed or cancelled, Students will be contacted by the Trainer.

Trainers are closely monitoring the situations in each of the communities where trainings are currently scheduled and taking additional precautions for classes that are not being postponed to encourage hand washing, clean and sanitize the training spaces, provide extra soap and sanitizer, and ensure distancing between Students during training.

For Students currently completing certification requirements (certification assignment after the 4 Day Training), if you are concerned about your certification submission deadline please contact your Trainer.

Thank you for being a part of IMUSA,
